How long does sex therapy last?

This question is impossible to answer with any specificity, as every situation is unique. Rest assured that we attempt to work efficiently to help you reach your therapeutic goals. We know this process is expensive of time and money.

It helps to begin with weekly sessions. We find that therapy is more productive as momentum develops. We extend the process by sending you home with “homework” practices to work on between sessions, generally brief non-sexual practices focused on helping you and your partner increase a sense of intimacy, connection, and trust. As the work progresses it is reasonable to extend the period between sessions to allow you time to practice what you are learning. These issues of frequency and timing are worked out between you and your therapist, as well as when it is time for closure. We welcome an open discussion of how the process is going for you.

How long is each session?

Dr. Yarian’s sessions are fifty minutes. Longer sessions are available by arrangement.

Sandi Anders’ sessions with individuals are fifty minutes. Couples’ sessions are seventy-five minutes. Sessions adapted to special needs may be arranged.
